NHEA Email Groups

NHEA uses two private Yahoo Groups for the purpose of communicating among our members.

  1. NHEAINFO is for communication to current NHEA members about official NHEA events, activities, and business.
  2. HSMTALK was created to promote communication and foster relationships among homeschooling moms through encouragement and discussion of topics related to homeschooling.

When you join NHEA, our email coordinator adds your email address to the NHEAINFO yahoo group.  Signing up for the HSMTALK yahoo group was optional when you joined, however, you may join at any time by contacting the emailcoordinator@northshorehea.org. You should begin to receive the group emails as soon as our email coordinator has entered your email address.  Please note that you can unsubscribe from either group (both NHEAIFNO or HSMTALK) at any time by clicking on unsubscribe at the bottom of any NHEAINFO or HSMTALK email, although we strongly encourage you to stay on NHEAINFO.

Once you have become a member of the NHEA, you will receive a welcome email containing the email addresses for both of these groups.

YAHOO GROUP EMAIL FEATURES (all visible in any group email):

  • TAG IN SUBJECT LINE– A tag in the subject line will let you know which group has sent you the email ( examples : [NHEAINFO] and [HSMTALK]).
  • DIGEST– You may choose to have your email setting changed to digest which consolidates all daily emails into one email per day.  Attachments are dropped when using digest, so we do not recommend switching NHEAINFO to digest.  The “Digest” tab is located at the bottom, right-hand corner of every group email.
  • VISIT YOUR GROUP– The “Visit your group” tab is located on the blue line under the “Reply” tabs.  This refers to the Yahoo group site and not our official NHEA website.  You may choose to visit either group site which requires you to join the group (our moderator only adds you to the email list) and sign in using a Yahoo ID.  Please note that we will only be keeping NHEA information current on our website www.northshorehea.org and not our Yahoo group site.  HSMTALK group site offers many options for our members to share information by uploading links and files; however, it is only as good as our members make it.
  • REPLY TO GROUP– The “Reply to group” tab is on the bottom, left-hand corner of each group email.  You may choose to use this when the information you are sending is directed and beneficial to the group.
  • REPLY TO SENDER– The “Reply to sender” tab at the bottom will do the same thing as your reply button at the top of your email.
  • UNSUBSCRIBE– The “Unsubscribe” tab is at the bottom, right-hand corner of every group email.  Should you find that HSMTALK is not for you, you may unsubscribe from the group at any time.  We ask that you remain on NHEAINFO while you are a member of our homeschool group as this is our primary method of communicating with our members.

 Guidelines for the NHEAINFO Group:

  1. Always include a clear and specific subject line
  2. Only information related to official NHEA events, activities, and business should be posted using "NHEAINFO"
  3. Do not send duplicate emails through both groups

 Guidelines for the HSMTALK Group:

  1. Always include a clear and specific subject line
  2. Do not post anything related to official NHEA sponsored activites, events, or business to this group.
  3. Edit any quoted text down to the minimum needed.
  4. Advertising is generally not permitted, but links in your tagline to homeschool or member-owned businesses are acceptable as well as an occasional advertising message to the group (no more than once a month).
  5. Unbiased political updates are allowed; however, only issues concerning homeschooling and family are up for discussion.
  6. Theological and doctrinal topics are not permitted.
  7. When posting items for sale, please consolidate all items and updates on items sold to one email per week.
  8. Do not forward chain letters.  Please limit forwards to those most beneficial to our homeschool group.
  9. Do not curse, use accusatory remarks, be rude, or USE ALL CAPS.
  10. Please read your own message three times before sending it.  When in doubt, save your message overnight and reread it in the morning prior to sending.
